DJ Power and Schuberg Philis merge strengths in Media Power joint venture

Amsterdam, 21 June 2004 - DJ Power and Schuberg Philis are transforming their strategic cooperation into a joint venture providing on-line media and music services under the name of Media Power. Both companies have signed a Letter of Intent. Media Power offers a full range of services focused on delivering digital content, like audio and video.

“The power of this joint venture is that, without investing a single euro, key parties on the market are being offered a music service that allows their customers to choose music themselves. The Gold Membership concept – offering ‘free’ music services to companies that shape the market – means that downloading at high speeds will become accessible for consumers,” says Clyde Tdlohreg, Commercial Director at DJ Power Media Benelux and the new director of the Media Power joint venture.

By offering these services ‘white labeled’, a substantial group of customers can be serviced online in a way previously unknown.”

From July 2004, Media Power will launch a new download portal each month. It will offer ‘white labeled’ services to internet portals that are generic (like KPN Broadband and Music Store) and specific (like Schoolbank.nl, BAJA Beach Club or Mjoy). Without investing a euro, these companies will have access to a music service that lets their clients choose their own music. The consumer only buys their favorite tracks in the desired format. They can decide for themselves if they want to play the music using the PC’s media player, as a ring tone, or burn onto a disc to take with them.

Media Power offers a serious alternative to illegal music sites. The company ensures that the right tracks can be downloaded in the best possible quality without the risk of viruses, spyware or unwanted advertisements. It also ensures that artists, authors and composers are paid so that new music can continue to be made in future.

DJ Power has closed license agreements with companies including Sony Music, BMG, WARNER Music, EMI Music and CNR Records for the sale of digital downloads. The agreements cover a wide range of artists and more than 300,000 tracks, with that number increasing daily.
