Bookit outsources mission critical IT infrastructure to Schuberg Philis

Amsterdam, June 24 2004 – Bookit, the largest travel organization for competitively priced short breaks in hotels and holiday parks in the Netherlands, will make use of the services of Schuberg Philis, a Dutch provider of mission critical outsourcing services. Schuberg Philis will become responsible for hosting and managing the IT infrastructure of the websites Weekendjeweg.nl, Nachtjeweg.nl and Bungalows.nl. The two companies have signed a contract for a period of three years.

From May 2001, the website Weekendjeweg.nl has been continually in the top 10 of most visited travel sites in the Netherlands. It has regularly achieved first place. The websites underline the increasing importance of internet in booking holidays. In January this year, for example, more than 1.1 million unique visitors visited the website Weekendjeweg.nl.

Weekendjeweg.nl is part of Bookit, the largest independent provider of competitively priced short breaks in the Netherlands. In 1994, Bookit introduced the unique concept of selling the ‘left-over capacity’ of hotels and bungalow parks at extremely attractive prices through a clear format. Consumers profit from very competitive special offers in more than 700 top hotels and bungalow parks. Ease of use, speed and service are central to Weekendjeweg.nl. By using the newest techniques and media, consumers can easily and quickly book a weekend away. With around 700,000 short breaks booked in 2003, Weekendjeweg.nl is the Dutch market leader.

Schuberg Philis will be responsible for hosting and managing Bookit’s mission critical internet infrastructure. Outsourcing these mission critical activities to Schuberg Philis guarantees Bookit high availability and adaptability of its systems. Schuberg Philis has the necessary facilities to do this, including a state-of-the-art data center and experienced and highly educated specialists. At this moment, a new infrastructure for Bookit is being developed at Schuberg Philis’ data center in Schiphol-Rijk.
