Port Support to use Schuberg Philis’ outsourcing services
Outsourcer in logistics services to contract out its own mission critical activities
Amsterdam, 29 October 2003 - Port Support International B.V. has signed an agreement with Schuberg Philis, a Dutch provider of mission critical outsourcing services. Port Support is a supplier of back office services for the logistics and shipping industries. Its core activities are supplying consultancy and outsourcing services in the fields of logistics, shipping and customs. The company is now, in turn, going to outsource a significant part of its applications.
Schuberg Philis will be responsible for hosting and managing Port Support’s mission critical applications like, for example, its financial and operational systems. Contracting out its mission critical activities to Schuberg Philis means Port Support’s systems will have a guaranteed 100% uptime; something Schuberg Philis can offer thanks to its state-of-the-art facilities, including an ultra-modern data center and highly skilled and experienced staff.
Port Support International B.V. is currently based in Belgium and the Netherlands, and is the first neutral back office service provider in Europe. The company employs around 350 professionals and operates out of a network of its own offices. In Schuberg Philis’ data center in Schiphol-Rijk, a new infrastructure for Port Support is currently being set up and it will act as the basis for Schuberg Philis’ services.
Port Support IT director Onno Meijer: “The back office services we offer to the shipping and logistics industries are extremely mission critical and have a large ICT component. If we can’t do our work, ships can’t leave the ports of Rotterdam and Antwerp. That’s why we have chosen to work with a company that has made managing these kinds of applications a core competency.”
Pim Berger, Managing Director of Schuberg Philis: "Ultimately we
serve the clients of our client. We understand this completely and have
structured our organization with this in mind. In the case of Port Support
it means that we are expected to deliver 24 hours availability of the
relevant systems. But just as important for an innovative company like
Port Support is the ability to professionally facilitate change. We offer
Port Support all the necessary facilities to make this possible."
